Amy Peters has been a licensed California attorney for thirty years. Her practice emphasizes estate planning by which she employs strategies tailored for each individual client. She employs various techniques that might include pre-marital agreements, separate property agreements, generation skipping trusts, charitable remainder trusts, asset protection tax-exempt trusts and family partnerships, among others. An estate plan includes the trust; the will; the advance health care directive with the appropriate HIPPA waivers; Power of Attorney for financial affairs; planning for the protection, placement and support of minor children and transferring the client’s assets into the trust. Her practice also includes an expertise in real property transactions and business succession planning, including providing counsel for the formation and legal issues pertaining to small business enterprises.

Amy Peters has conducted seminars and delivered speeches regarding the advantages of estate planning, to numerous groups, including those oriented toward seniors, churches, and other local philanthropic organizations as well as being a guest on the radio to discuss the advantages of estate planning to avoid probate and tax planning.

She served as corporate counsel for several national and multi-national Fortune500 and Fortune 200 companies during her career, including a multi-national utility; a national Hospital Chain and a California Savings and Loan/Consumer Finance Lender. She has a broad legal background with experience in real property, contracts, regulatory policy, administrative law, and other complex corporate legal issues. She graduated from Point Loma High School.; California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo (magna cum laude) and Thomas Jefferson School of Law (Invited to join the Law review), which she attended while working full time as a law clerk in the law department at SDG&E.

Since 1986, she has been a member in good standing of the California State Bar, and is a member of its real property section and Trusts and Estate Section; she belongs to the San Diego North County Bar Association and its Wills and Trusts Section. She is a member of the San Diego Dementia Consortium.
